Cleaning
Depending on traffic, we recommend cleaning your rug every six months
(for areas of heavy traffic) or every year (for areas of light traffic). Taking
your rug to a professional rug cleaning company is the safest method of cleaning
your rug. Make sure that the company specializes in handmade rugs and that they
use a hand-washing technique with a light non-abrasive detergent. Also, ensure that
the company is insured so that they will be held responsible in case any damage
does occur during the washing process. Finally, insist on a written invoice and
carefully inspect your rug after it has been washed.

Vacuuming
You can vacuum your rug as you would any other carpet in your home. Be
sure to tuck in the fringes and set your vacuum’s rotator on high. Once a year,
turn your rug upside down and vacuum the back. Once you have turned the rug over,
sweep or vacuum the dislodged dirt.

Rotating
It is very important to rotate your rug 180°
once a year because it will ensure that the rug wears at an even rate. This will
also help even out fading caused by exposure to sunlight. Although fading is a natural
process as your rug ages, keeping it out of direct sunlight will help keep your
colors looking brighter longer. Conversely, people who prefer an antique look can
achieve this look faster by placing their rug in an area that is exposed to the
sun on a regular basis.
